AFTER all these years, Noah’s Ark has finally been impounded for not having appropriate seaworthiness paperwork.
The replica vessel, which has been docked in Ipswich in the United Kingdom has been racking up 500-a-day fines since the beginning of Apr.
It arrived at Orwell Quay in Nov 2019, and has been detained for around 18 months by the Coastguard, and Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps has been asked to get involved.
The 2.6 million biblical museum is owned by Dutch television producer Aad Peters, who could apply for an exemption to be allowed to return the ship to the Netherlands, but the Coastguard insists this would not be safe.
The authorities have found a range of issues, including overdue services for life-saving equipment such as life jackets, a fire kit and life boats – fair enough for a vessel as old as it is.
