HURTIGRUTEN’S Norwegian Coastal Express has made a large-scale investment in batteries, biofuel and shore power in order to cut emissions by a quarter.
The entire division’s fleet will be upgraded, which will also result in nitrous oxide emissions cut by four-fifths.
The ships will be upgraded using a combination of specially adapted technologies and solutions for each individual ship, with the fleet having already been fitted with shore-power connectivity.
Three ships – Kong Harald, Nordlys, and Richard With will undergo a fully fledged transformation to battery-hybrid power, with installation of new low-emission engines and large battery packs.
Meanwhile, travellers taking advantage of Norwegian Coastal Express’ Suites for your Sweet promotion can now also secure a bonus $100 off per stateroom when booking with Creative Cruising.
