MSC Cruises has published its 2021 Sustainability Report, which lays the foundation for achieving zero impact operations.

The cruise line has achieved significant progress in every area of its Sustainability Action Plan, with a highlight cutting emissions by 8% aboard MSC Grandiosa during advanced trials of energy efficiency measures.

MSC is also limiting its sulphur oxides, nitrogen oxides, and particulates, having thus far fitted 14 of its 19 ships with hybrid exhaust gas cleaning systems, reducing SOx by 98%.

By the end of last year, seven of MSC’s ships had been fitted with shore power capability.
