EVERYONE loves a freebie,
but would you take one from a
homeless shelter?
In Ketchikan in Alaska, cruise
ship passengers have been
wandering in to use a homeless
shelter’s restroom and staying
for the free coffee, The Chicago
Tribune reports.
“If we have a snack, they’ll
take the snack and they’ll sit
there and watch TV,” The First
City Homeless Services Day
Shelter chairwoman Evelyn
Erbele said.
“It’s called ‘audacity,’ isn’t it?”
Media attention regarding the
passengers’ use of the shelter
has prompted support from
readers around the world.
“It’s a shelter, & we don’t turn
anybody away,” Erbele added.
