WE all love cruising, but a few centuries in an aquatic environment may seem a bit too much for most.
But that’s been the situation on Easter Island, where scientists recently found a gigantic “Moai” statue in a lake.
The monolithic human figure is located in a volcano crater, and was found by a team of scientific volunteers from three Chilean universities.
The Moai, which is 1.6 metres long, was found lying down on its side looking at the sky.
“The interesting thing is that, for at least the last 200 or 300 years, the [lake] was three metres deep, meaning no human being could have left the Moai there in that time,” one of the scientists told international news agency Agence France-Presse.
