A Royal Caribbean International ship has rescued more than a dozen people from a tiny boat in the Bahamas on the weekend.
Liberty of the Seas rescued 17 people thought to be Cuban migrants on their way to the Bahamas.
The ship had actually skipped a planned trip to CocoCay, its private island in the Bahamas, due to heavy winds, which put Liberty on a lucky path to intercepting the migrants.
The boat had been adrift for weeks, Liberty’s Captain said.
The rescue took about 45 minutes, and is the latest in a series of cruise-migrant encounters in the Atlantic.
