A group of Canberrans have taken an early morning dip to pull a shivering kangaroo from Lake Burley Griffin.
The kangaroo was stuck in the shallows near Commonwealth Avenue Bridge, looking rather sad and sorry for itself.
The group made a call to wildlife experts for assistance, but eventually decided to just deal with it themselves.
The rescuers tried to calm the kangaroo, which stayed with its heroes for a while after it was extracted from the lake.
It is not the first time a roo has become stuck in the lake.
